What we're we thinking?
Always get samples of paint before you and your OCD perfectionest
wife. Dedicate some serious paint time. We Woke up this morning and
had a "WTF" moment. It's like a daycare center. All it lacks are some
sesame street characters and alphabets.shit. I'm hungry for some grahm
crackers.

Cabinets
Ok, so I would like to brag a little about our cabinet guys. We priced cabinets at 4 different places plus at the usual suspects, (AKA Home Depot and Lowes). At the latter places our cabinets were going to be outrageous. Now you've seen the size of our kitchen in pictures right? Those jokers were quoting us over $10,000 dollars and that was just plain cabinets with no drawers or fancy stuff. Not good. Because we love to support Mom and Pop shops whenever we can we went with J&C Cabinets. We are working with Jose Herrera and his installers and we have had a great experience so far.
He provided us with color samples for our cabinets so that we could test them against our walls before he built them, came and did the measurements, and has been really patient with us. We are not done yet and the finishing details go in later but this is what they did yesterday. The top picture is where we are hiding our washer and dryer!

Busy Day
I got a call from our contractor this morning and he told us they weren't coming in today. They are arranging an inspection for tomorrow and since they finished everything they needed to get done for the inspection they don't need to come in. This is the first day of privacy that the Mister and I have had. This whole week we've had the TBG Construction crew and the J&C Cabinet crew working around the clock so it's always chaos. It hasn't been a lazy day for us though. I arranged a few people to come in and give us bids on our shower door and counters. Three frameless shower door bids, three different prices. More updates on that later. Please pray our inspection goes well. If it does, we can finally have power in this place. Working out of two outlets is not fun.
We will be painting the bathroom today so that we can get it done before we have people back in our house tomorrow. So much to get done!

Pyramid Flooring & Molding
We must have called at least 20 flooring places to look for our hardwood floor. We only need enough for the bedroom because we are leaving the original in the rest of the house. We could have gone the easy way out and installed a pre-finished floor but we want to match the floor to the rest of the house. Problem? We have inch and a half red oak. Upon the recommendetion of our floring guy we asked the guys at TBG to leave the back room prepared for a 3/4 inch floor. I came across this place that sells 3/4 x 1 1/2 Red Oak for a phenomenal price and they will have it ready tomorrow. Not in two weeks and not for an arm and a leg! The guys were awesome and great over the phone. They never treated me like a moron and when we stopped by in person they were so cool! Talk to Oscar JR, or Juan. For a moment we almost felt like we were back in Texas with those two guys. Then we looked out the window at the blazing fire. Nothing like a little ash on your car to remind you that you are still in Cali.

BATHROOM ALMOST DONE

The bathroom is coming along. We need to prime and paint it, but it's looking better than we had envisioned. Man it feels good. We also found out the tile guy left a wad of plastic and paper in the shower drain. I am sure we will find a way to get it out.

Moving on Up
Thanks to our friends we moved everything yesterday. All our belongings fit in one small u-haul and only one trip was necessary. Seeing all of those boxes in our house is overwhelming because they are sitting in the middle of a construction site. We have nowhere to put anything and no closets to hang clothes. But it feels good and it is a blessing, a true blessing to have this problem. I will sleep in a saw dust, paint fumed, unfinished house any day of the week so long as it's ours!

Still moving
The place is unfinished. And we're still moving in. Sometimes you just
gotta suck it up and deal. I had two friends that helped me move.
Without them it would of been rough. Thanks m & s.
